Good to know: no wing foiling, no rental to beginners, and the kite beach is not part of the hotel's all-inclusive.

Which course is right for you?
- Never flown a kite: the 3.5-hour course (1.5 h on the beach and 2 private hours on the water, €150) to try it, or the 7-hour course (3 h + 4 h, €290) to go further.
- A week to learn: the 6-day beginners' Kiteweek combines the 7-hour course with 3 days of rental (€460).
- Already had lessons: the 3-hour refresher is three private hours on the water (€160); the advanced Kiteweek adds 3 days of rental to 6 hours of coaching (€490).
- Independent riders: rent with a VDWS level 4 to 5 licence, or book a €50 check lesson first, and bring your own wetsuit.
- Wing foilers: not here. The school does not allow wing foiling on its lagoon, for safety and because of the depth.
The spot
Wind and conditions at the station
The lagoon in front of the station is sandy and 0.8 to 1.2 m deep, according to Casa Mare, and about a kilometre long, so you can stand up to relaunch. The school counts about 5 windy days a week over the year, nearly 6 from April to the end of November and about 10 in two weeks in winter, so it advises winter visitors to stay at least two weeks.
OLA Sportreisen, which sells kite trips here, says the wind blows side-onshore from the left from the morning and settles at 15 to 20 knots by late morning, often with a short lull around 13:00, and expects lighter wind, 12 to 16 knots, from May to August. For forecasts, the school suggests Windy's Port Ghalib point, or Windfinder's Marsa Alam Airport station plus about 30% in a north wind, because the airport is inland. Safety and equipment
All water lessons are private, so your instructor watches only you, and the school does not rent to beginners: you need a VDWS level 4 to 5 licence or a €50 check lesson. OLA Sportreisen adds that beach assistants keep watch and a rescue boat is kept ready, and recommends shoes, as dead coral and sharp shells can stick out of the sand. The kites are Eleveight, according to OLA Sportreisen and the school's Facebook page, from a pool of about 70 kites and 40 boards. The school's wetsuit advice: a shorty in spring and autumn, at least a 3 mm full suit in winter, and sun protection such as a lycra in summer.
