Booking.com puts the hotel 0.1 mile from the school, Trip.com 170 to 220 m from Kite School Egypt, which shares the same beach, and both schools describe themselves as beside or right next to AMC Royal. At a normal pace that is two or three minutes on foot.
The lagoon in front is knee- to waist-deep over a sandy bottom with no coral and flattest at mid tide, and the wind blows mostly from the north, cross-onshore, so a beginner drifts back towards the beach. Sultan adds patches of deeper water and natural ramps for jumping, and a long jetty; a weather station at AMC Royal feeds its live wind page. At the station you find guarded overnight storage, a compressor, beach assistants for launching and landing, a fresh-water rinse, showers and a shaded chill-out zone, and the Medusa Restaurant & Bar is on the beach next to the kite centre.

For families and non-kiters
AMC Royal is all-inclusive: full board (except lobster and shrimp), all local soft and alcoholic drinks and non-motorised sports, according to the hotel's own profile. Children have a kids club, a large pool with slides and a water park with slides for adults and children, free for guests, though drinks and snacks there cost extra (Join Up, ITAKA). Adults have a spa with a sauna and massages, four restaurants and several bars, one of them on the beach.
The hotel's private beach is sandy and very shallow for a long way out: swim from the jetty and bring water shoes, as tour operators recommend. The wind usually builds through the day, so mornings are the calmest time in the sea, and Sultan Kite School says guests of the neighbouring hotels like to watch the riders from the shore.

Courses run from a 3-hour introduction (€130) to 12 hours (€400), and a private hour costs €50, with equipment, helmet and insurance included (website, October 2026). Kite School Egypt, whose instructors are IKO-trained according to its website, works from the same beach.

AMC Royal is in the Al Ahyaa district, on the coast road between Hurghada and El Gouna, 13 km south of El Gouna according to the hotel. Hurghada airport is about 22 to 23 km away by road (tour operators), and Kite School Egypt, next door, puts the drive at about 20 minutes.
