Which course is right for you?
- Never flown a kite: the 3-hour Introduction covers the wind window, a trainer kite, set-up and safety systems, first flying with a four-line kite and a first body drag.
- Want to ride on your own: plan for 10 to 12 hours over three or four days, which the school says most beginners need. Level 3 (12 h) ends with launching and landing, a controlled stop and riding in both directions.
- In between: Level 1 (6 h) adds water relaunch and body drags with a board; Level 2 (9 h) adds water starts and your first short rides.
- Already riding: private coaching starts with a warm-up and a level check, using your own equipment.
- Light-wind days: if you ride confidently in both directions, the school rents hydrofoils, which work in lighter wind.
- Learning in winter: the school finds autumn and winter days often moderate, which suits lessons; bring a long 5 mm wetsuit from December to February.

The station sits on a long, shallow lagoon between Hurghada and El Gouna, on the beach of Palma Resort next to AMC Royal. The water is waist-deep over a large area, with a sandy bottom and no coral, and flattest at mid tide; patches of deeper water and natural ramps give confident riders room to jump, and a long jetty makes a backdrop for photos. Kite School Egypt, on the same beach, describes the water as knee- to waist-deep.
The wind blows mainly from the north, cross-onshore, and sometimes from the east; in May and November it can turn south-south-east and blow side-shore. It builds through the day, so afternoons are usually windier than early mornings. The school counts wind on about 270 days a year, finds spring often the windiest season and September and October strong and even, and publishes live data from a weather station at AMC Royal on its location page. Safety and equipment
Trained beach assistants help every student and rider launch and land. Courses include the instructor, equipment, harness, wetsuit boots, a helmet and insurance for the duration of the training, and you can hire waterproof radio helmets on request, which help once you are body dragging or up on the board and further from your instructor. The website does not mention a rescue boat at the station, so ask the school how it handles rescues.
Rental kites are Cabrinha (Switchblade 9 to 17 m, Contra 7 to 12 m) and Nobile (T5 5.5 to 12 m, 50Fifty 12 and 14 m), with Nobile and CrazyFly twin-tips from 120 to 160 cm, Nobile and Cabrinha bars and Mystic harnesses. The school's size guide: 12 to 14 m in light wind (12 to 15 knots), 9 to 11 m in 15 to 20 knots and 6 to 8 m above 20 knots, one size smaller for light riders and one bigger for heavy ones.
