About the Hotel
The Imperial Shams is a historic hotel in the region, highly prized by water sports enthusiasts for decades. While less luxurious than the Palm Royale, it offers excellent value for money. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and unpretentious. It is a true 'beachfront' hotel where you meet many passionate guests who have been coming back for 10 or 15 years. It shares its beach with the Shams Prestige (a more upscale/adults-only neighbor) if you are looking for more quiet, but the school is located right in front of the Imperial.
About the Kite Spot
The spot in front of the Shams is huge and very versatile. It is world-renowned for windsurfing, but it has a fantastic dedicated kitesurfing zone. There is a sandbar upwind that creates a flat-water area, while further out you can find some fun chop. A major advantage here is that the wind often kicks in a bit stronger than in the north of the bay due to a local venturi effect.
For Families & Non-Kiters
This is a very lively hotel for families. The beach slopes gently into the water, making it perfect for children. The animation team is very active, and there are numerous sports facilities (tennis, squash, mini-golf). It is less 'zen' than the Palm Royale, but more 'fun' and affordable for a full family vacation.
