The spot
The kite beach, 1 km south
The resort's own beach is for swimming and lounging; kiting happens at KBC's private kite beach about 1 km south, which KBC opened in cooperation with the resort. The free shuttle leaves from the hotel entrance every hour on the hour from 9 a.m., and you can also walk there along the beach.
At the station the north wind blows side-offshore, seasonally side-shore, after crossing about 1 km of sea, which KBC says keeps it steady; even in strong wind the water stays fairly flat. The shore area is wide but too shallow to ride, so lessons take place a little further out, with no more than two students per instructor and rescue boats on the water.
Hotel guests pay a spot fee of €21 a day or €121 a week, which covers storage, rescue and the private beach, and every rider must register at KBC's office, even with their own gear. For wing foilers, KBC runs a small base directly on the hotel beach.
Families
For families and non-kiters
The pools are the centre of the day: two Olympic-size pools heated in winter, a separate kids' pool and the kids' club, plus a daily entertainment programme with yoga and water aerobics. There is beach volleyball, a floodlit tennis court and paddle tennis (€25 an hour), Mivida Spa for massages and treatments, a fitness area and a medical clinic with a doctor on call around the clock.
For meals there is the main buffet restaurant, a beach and pool restaurant and four à la carte restaurants, which KBC lists as seafood, Lebanese, Asian and Italian. Families who want to watch the kiting can take the shuttle to KBC, where companions use the terrace, bar and showers free of charge.
