Which course is right for you?
- Never flown a kite: the 12-hour course is the school's full basic programme for complete beginners, and the 15-hour course over five days is the one it recommends most; both include an IKO certificate.
- Just curious: the 3-hour intro teaches you to fly a kite safely and feel its power.
- Already had a first course, or done snowkiting or wakeboarding: the 6- and 9-hour courses work on body-dragging, water starts and your first runs in both directions.
- Riding but rusty: a 2-hour private refresher.
- Independent riders at IKO level 3: rent Cabrinha or CrazyFly gear, or bring your own and pay for beach use and storage.
- Wingfoilers: wing foil courses from one hour, for two people per instructor at most.
The spot
Wind and conditions at the station
The centre sits directly on the beach of Long Beach Resort, a few metres from the sea. A coral reef protects the kite lagoon, so the water is flat or slightly choppy, knee- to waist-deep, with a sandy, coral-free bottom: the school calls it a freeride and freestyle spot for every level. The wind blows onshore and steadily, with no obstacles upwind to make it gusty, and the school counts more than 70% of days a year above 4 Beaufort, with more than six months a year warm enough to ride without a wetsuit (school figures). Safety
Safety and equipment
Lessons are one-to-one or for two students per instructor, and trained beach staff help every rider launch and land. Course prices include the kite, board, harness, helmet and water shoes, plus insurance for the kite gear. If there is no wind or too much, the school credits pre-booked lesson time as a voucher for a later visit.
Rental is only for riders at IKO level 3, who can stay upwind and know the self-rescue. The kites are 2023/2024 Cabrinha and CrazyFly models, including the Switchblade, Moto and Contra, from 5 to 17 m², with twin-tips from 129 to 160 cm; damage to rented gear is charged under the school's damage policy.
