Wind and conditions at Mikri Vigla
Lessons take place only in Mikri Vigla bay, with north wind. The Meltemi blows side-shore to side-onshore from the right, so it pushes you back towards the wide sandy beach. Naxos Kitelife finds the wind here often 5 to 10 knots stronger than forecasts suggest, usually light in the morning and filling in by about 1 pm, from about mid-May to September and most steadily from June to August. Expect chop, and a busy bay in July and August. More in our Naxos kitesurf guide.
Safety and equipment
Helmets and impact vests are compulsory for students and renters, lessons are coached by waterproof radio, and first sessions use short lines. A safety boat is ready to go if needed. The school teaches on Eleveight kites and boards, rents Eleveight and Peter Lynn kites, and uses Sabfoil and Moses foils with Mystic and ION wetsuits, harnesses and vests.
