The spot
The kite spot at Casa Cook
The Duotone Pro Center is inside the hotel grounds, on the shore of what the school calls one of the largest shallow-water areas in the Red Sea. The wind blows side-shore to side-onshore from the north, so a beginner drifts back towards the beach rather than out to sea. There is shallow water for first flights and body drags, and at high tide the sandbank creates a small pool of flat water for advanced riders. A rescue boat stays nearby, and the team picks the zone as the tide changes.
The centre has a gear storage about 100 m from the water with 36 lockers, a compressor, hot outdoor showers and a washing and drying area, and you can order coffee or lunch from the Casa Cook beach bar to its chill-out area. If you bring your own gear, you register and pay a day-use fee at the station. KBC's kite beach is also within walking distance, about 500 m to the south.
Non-kiters
For partners and non-kiters
Casa Cook is adults only, so this is a hotel for couples and friends rather than families. While you ride, your partner has three pools, a spa, a modern gym and an open-air yoga shala with aerial hammocks. The beachside bar plays DJ sets, and the Kitchen Club cooks Middle Eastern, Arabic and Mediterranean food for breakfast and dinner.
The marina and downtown El Gouna, with their restaurants and bars, are a 5-minute tuk tuk ride away, and boat trips, diving and golf are all close by.
