The spot
The kite spot in front of the resort
The resort stands just above Praia de Chaves, a long dune-backed beach on the west coast; the sea is under 200 m from the rooms, down a short slope. IKSURFMAG describes side-shore wind here, with waves from December to February and some shorebreak, which is why the school based at the hotel starts beginners on the beach and then teaches from a boat in front of it, moving to its second boat in Sal Rei bay when the sea is too big.
Tour operator alltours lists the kite centre as run by an outside company and paid separately, and Boavista Kite still calls the hotel by its Iberostar name on its website. Ask the resort or the school which operator runs the beach station before you travel. If it is closed, the Sal Rei bay centres, such as the Duotone Pro Center Boa Vista, are about 15 minutes away by car.
Families
For families and non-kiters
The main pool is an infinity pool looking out over the Atlantic, with a separate children's pool and a sun terrace with free loungers and umbrellas; both pools use seawater. The Bravo entertainment team runs games, sports, dance and courses for adults and children by day, and aperitifs, beach parties and shows in the evening. There are kids' clubs by age, padel, pickleball, tennis and five-a-side courts, archery, bocce and an outdoor fitness area with aqua fitness.
Meals are buffets in the Central restaurant, with a children's corner for ages 2 to 11, lunch at the Spiaggia beach restaurant and a 24-hour lobby bar; the Gourmet restaurant (evenings, booking needed) and the spa, with sauna, Turkish bath, Jacuzzi and an adults-only pool, cost extra. Sal Rei, the island's small capital, is about 10 km away.

Boavista Kite is the school that says its centre is inside the hotel, with IKO instructors and boat lessons. Its Google listing now places it at Praia Carlota near Sal Rei, so check who runs the station this season.

Location and getting there
The resort is on Praia de Chaves, on the west coast of Boa Vista, about 3 km from Aristides Pereira International Airport (BVC), a transfer of under 10 minutes; the resort arranges transfers by email. Sal Rei is about 10 km away, and the Duotone Pro Center Boa Vista in Sal Rei bay about 15 minutes by car.
