Courses on offer
The school's website lists four kite courses, all with the gear included (helmet, buoyancy aid, harness, kite and board). It shows no dated price list and still names the hotel as the Iberostar, so ask for this season's prices and confirm the location when you book.
- First-day lesson: flying the kite, wind theory and the safety rules, if you want to try before committing.
- Beginner course over three days: 2 hours a day, 6 hours in all, from setting up the kite to your first water starts.
- Private lessons, 2 hours each, with an IKO card at the end of each lesson.
- Zero to hero over five days: from complete beginner to riding on your own.
- Also SUP, surf lessons and snorkelling, plus quad tours, fishing trips, catamaran days and whale watching through the school.

Praia de Chaves is an open Atlantic beach. IKSURFMAG describes side-shore wind at the station, waves from December to February and some shorebreak, so the beach is not always easy to launch from. The school's answer is to teach the first lessons on the beach and then from a boat in front of the hotel, and to move lessons to its other boat in Sal Rei bay when that is not possible.
