Kitesurfing from the Robinson
Robinson does not run a kite station in Soma Bay. Its kite partner is 7BFT KiteHouse, an independent centre listed by the IKO: the club's free shuttle takes you there, and you book and pay for lessons, rental and storage with 7BFT. On the map listings, 7BFT is about 2.4 km from the club in a straight line, and Robinson notes that kiting is possible only at selected spots, after a talk with its head of water sports.
The bay in front of 7BFT gets a steady north wind that is side-offshore at the beach and keeps the water flat; 7BFT itself speaks of 4 to 8 Beaufort. Its station opens from 8:30 to 18:30 and its water area from 8:30 to 17:00. A newer Duotone Pro Center, opened in 2025 at the WYTE beach club, is about 1.4 km from the club in a straight line.

Windsurfing, catamaran and wing at the club
The club's own water sports station is about 300 m from the rooms, on the sandy beach next to the Kempinski hotel. It is open all day, gives daily equipment and area briefings, and all its instructors are VDWS-certified. Club guests with a recognised licence rent windsurf gear (about 70 boards) and catamarans free of charge, and the weekly taster sessions are free too; courses, including VDWS licences, cost extra and need at least three participants. Wing foiling is charged even for club guests: a weekly taster, foil board hire and private introductions. Children can windsurf from 8 on the VDWS Youngster course. Families
For families and non-kiters
Robinson describes the club as 'for all': the interests of adults come first, but children and teenagers have their own programmes. The Roby Club takes children from 3 years, six days a week in hourly programmes, with groups for 7 to 12 year olds and for 13 to 17 year olds in the main school holidays. There is a heated children's pool 0.40 m deep, a small playground, a babysitting service and baby equipment on request.
For adults there are three heated pools (main, relaxation and wading), a WellFit spa with Finnish saunas, a steam bath and massage rooms (from 16), group fitness, yoga and Pilates, tennis and a padel court. One of the region's largest dive centres is next door, with its own house reef, and the 18-hole Somabay golf course is about 5 minutes away by car. Evenings bring three or four shows a week in a theatre of about 450 seats, a live act once a week, themed parties and a night club.

Robinson's water sports station is the club's own VDWS centre for windsurfing, catamaran sailing and wing foiling. It does not teach kitesurfing: kite courses are run by 7BFT KiteHouse, reached by the club's free shuttle.

Robinson gives two figures for the airport: about 45 km and a 45-minute transfer on one page, 54 km and about 50 minutes by taxi on another.
